NexTech Innovations

Please note: This is a sample/ficticious project I completed during my own time.

Client Name: Dr. Emily Chen

Position: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Company: NexTech Innovations

Background

Dr. Emily Chen is a technology executive with over 20 years of experience in leading-edge research and development. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Her career began with foundational research and has since evolved into driving technological innovation in areas such as cybersecurity.

Issues

As a team focused on technological growth and advancement, Emily noticed that staff from her company did not hold any excitement and curiosity about this world. In fact, after hearing from her other executive peers, they were beginning to hold resentment against the company. Now, for Emily, this was an issue as she preferred working alongside people who’d be happy to be there innovating. She needed to focus on the happiness of her staff. As the company did not previously focus on internal communications, Emily decided to hire an internal communications specialist. Following a meeting with said specialist, they drafted the following communications plan.

Current Role and Contributions

As the new CTO of NexTech Innovations (company of 700 people), Emily oversees the company's technological vision and strategy. Her responsibilities include driving innovation, overseeing product development, and ensuring that NexTech remains at the forefront of technological advancements. She is passionate about harnessing AI and machine learning to create solutions that solve real-world problems and enhance user experiences. She is a firm advocate for ethical AI development, actively participating in initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in STEM fields.

Emily’s Writing Style

When it comes to Emily’s writing style, she prefers being clear and using an authoritative voice. Her focus is sharing complex ideas in a simple but effective way. As a leader, she looks to support her team by providing only necessary information, while helping staff build a connection on the importance of their jobs.

Personal Interests

Outside of her professional endeavours, Emily enjoys hiking scenic trails and exploring new foods. She is an avid reader of science fiction and is passionate about supporting initiatives that promote environmental sustainability.

Communications Plan

As we know that staff aren’t happy, it wouldn’t make sense to complete a survey evaluating their thought process in the beginning. Instead to start off, we will add basic forms of communication to start connecting the audience to the greater purpose.

Communications

Plan

As we know that staff aren’t happy, it wouldn’t make sense to complete a survey evaluating their thought process in the beginning. Instead to start off, we will add basic forms of communication to start connecting the audience to the greater purpose.

Following a six to 12 month trial of these processes, we will conduct a communications survey. This survey will highlight a few key details, including the following:

  • Develop an understanding of the value of the current products. Do staff read the communications? Does it spread the message you want it to share?

  • Are staff aligned with the mission and values of the company? Does the mission align with the work that we do?

  • What are some next steps? What are staff members looking for from the company? How can we make them happy?

Using these results, we can align more closely on a further route. This can include a number of processes that play a different role according to staff needs.

  • Continue with the current communications

  • Add/remove tactics

  • Change the format of the way tactics are delivered
